Channing:
Good Morning! We are going to Gettysburg. It is really cool. I get to see all the people in the Civil War.

Bill:
We drove to Gettysburg, and around the battlefield. The area is swarming with monuments to units and individuals who played a part in the battle. We started by trying to read all of them, but it soon became obvious that that would take weeks. Our longest stop was at Little Round Top, near the south end of the Union line. It has an excellent view of the main battlefield. The kids ran around like crazy, trying to find Civil War artifacts. They wound up with a piece of contemporary broken beer bottle, and a pop top can from the era just before the design changed to keep the tabs attached to the can.
Logan:
Today we got out at a late start. We got out of the Hotel at 11:30. We
skipped breakfast. The fun thing that we attended was we saw Gettysburg.
My dad got a picture of me pretending to shoot off a cannon that the soldiers
used in the civil war. We had a lot of fun. Rev led my sister and I down
the very rocky mountain. He thought he saw a bone from the civil war, but
it turned out it was just a big and fat stick. But we did not leave empty
handed. We found a piece of rock glass, which is glass that had turned into
a rock, and we found a bug inside of it. Channing and I when we were done
exploring and everybody else was in the car, we went back up to the top
of the hill. She held one side of the stick and I held the other side and
we said "thank you". On the way back down I slipped on the ice
and fell on the cement. We went out to dinner at a buffet, then we went
home. Just so this makes more sense, what I did today is the stuff I did
the day after I went to Hershey.

Bill:
We made it to the cemetery just before it closed. It was bitterly cold,
and Jane and the girls stayed in the car. Rev and I went in and saw a bust
of Lincoln in a monument that also had the text of the Gettysburg Address
on a bronze tablet. Rev began reading the address, and when he stumbled
over some of the words I helped him finish. I made one photograph of Rev
reading, with Lincoln's head in the foreground.
Bill:
Tonight we ate at yet another buffet. I'm starting to wonder if Pennsylvania has any other kind of restaurant.
Channing:
We stayed here for about 4 or 5 hours. I learned a lot of things like
who fought the war and how it started. Then we ate dinner and went back
to the motel and watched TV and went to bed.
